It has been found that working the 12 Steps based on the original program of Alcoholics Anonymous provides relief from the tangible addictions such as alcoholism, drug addiction, chronic debting, excessive gambling, compulsive overeating, and acting out sexually, as well as the intangible addictions such codependence, certain mental and emotional problems, excessive anger, anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, and paranoia. It has also been found that stubborn defects of character and even certain health problems, including chronic illness and disability and aging, may be relieved by an intensive and sustained application of the 12 Steps.
The 12 Steps for Everybody tells the story of one person's success working the 12 Steps on over 20 different addictions, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, and habitual problems. Two separate methods are described for working the 12 Steps on any problem the reader might have. Instructions are given for starting your own 12-Step writing meeting or workshop, and contact information is given for 49 separate ongoing 12-Step programs.
The 12 Steps for Everybody, Inc. is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation whose mission is to provide free information, literature, 12-Step meetings, 12-Step workshops, and personal support to all those who wish to work the 12 Steps on anything.
