About the Author
BASIL JAY - was born in London in 1942, but for much of his early life he lived in a cottage on the Grand Union Canal with his mother and his grand parents. Village cricket and the gaily-coloured canal barges became the backdrop to his boyhood days.MANY DAYS IN AUGUST is Basil¿s third book. He is also the author of 'AND THE TIGERS COME AT NIGHT' (2005) and 'THE THIRTEENTH KNIGHT' (1996). Basil has also written a series of books for younger children 'THE ADVENTURES OF TWIG', and compiled and recorded two anthologies of poetry on cassette, 'THE GREAT POETS', and 'THE SOLDIER POETS', for which he also composed the background music.
