About the Author

Sherry Wilson-King is a licensed marriage and family therapist and certified addictions professional in the State of Florida, who believes that every one can learn to cope with the changes and transitions that life inevitably brings. It is her goal to educate and raise the awareness of the need to strengthen the bond between parent and child and enhance communication in the family system. She also wants society to understand the importance of walking in each other's shoes and appreciate that which makes each of us unique.In this story, the author points out that transitions are a natural part of our life cycle. They serve to make us stronger if we are able to develop and utilize healthy coping skills. This requires changing our mindset or choosing to look at the world, or a particular situation, in a different way. Aside from her Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, the author also has a Bachelor's degree with a double major in English and Communication Arts. The glossary at the back of the book was included so that children, from an early age, may be exposed to a broad vocabulary and creative writing techniques. It also benefits parents to read and review these language elements with their children to better prepare them for examinations (like the FCAT in Florida), setting a foundation for academic excellence as they transition into high school and university.
