About the Author:

Tom and Clare Temple were both teachers until they retired in July 2005. Tom had completed 41 years teaching,the final nineteen as Head of Holy Trinity Catholic Media Arts College, Small Heath, Birmingham. Clare, having trained for, and taught infants, and having had time out when their children were small, also taught her last eight years at Holy Trinity, in the Learning Support Department. They married in 1968; have three children; three grandchildren; are enjoying their gap year and are still optimistic. They feel as though they have been away this year more than at home, which is in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Their interests are completely different, except for their love of literatureand film! These differences have not been a problem during their travels. Tom is really content to sit in a bar with a book, while Clare shops. He often wonders why she continually leaves all her money and cards with him, even while he is looking at numerous items ( Clare having brought him to various shops ), and his card being used! At this stage of their journey they feel as though there are many different doors still left to open and hope to continue travelling and take part in some voluntary work before they grow too old. They also hope to continue to write.
