The author developed interest in the study of addiction after witnessing the impact of drug and alcohol on individuals and their families. The author has been a clinician for over ten years seeing many cases, behaviors, socioeconomic problems, mental challenges and the effect of street drugs on marginalized population. The author has witnessed firsthand impact of street drug and it challenges experienced by youth, adult, women and children in public and private treatment, jail, drug court programs, parental clinic, hospital, residential treatment programs, outpatient and in-patient treatment.
