About the Author

Karen M. Kortz teaches geology and oceanography at the Lincoln Campus of the Community College of Rhode Island. She is currently involved in several NSF grants to try to learn more about researching students' misconceptions and improving their learning in geology. Through this research she has developed Lecture Tutorials with Jessica J. Smay (San Jose City College) in order to improve the student experience in introductory geoscience courses.
