He, along with his wife, is the Pastor of Prevailing Word Bible Church in Brooklyn, NY, where the Word of the Lord is prevailing mightily. He has a unique calling in developing strong leaders and ministers and has shared his knowledge of ministry on television and radio. He resides in Pennsylvania with his wife, Valeria, and daughter Sherylynne.

Welcome to the ministry! The purpose of The Minister's Crucible is to prepare you for the rigors of ministry. The word crucible means: A severe test, as of patience or belief; a trial.

As a young minister of the gospel, you will be put through. If your pastor fails to put you through, then you will be cheated out of the experience of developing into a battle-hardened minister.

You must understand that the Lord saw what you were doing before He called you into the ministry. He saw in you the necessary ingredients that were developing within you. As soon as you approached the place where you are, He spoke into your heart what He had already planned for your life. It must also be understood that it is a privilege and an honor to serve in the ministry.

There are joys that will be experienced as you are put through the pace to be the kind of minister that the Lord requires you to be. The joy of watching what the Lord has given you and then seeing it released to the people will amaze you. The joys of watching people take what you are ministering to them and living it will astound you. The joy of watching how the Lord takes you from one level to the next will surprise you. The joy of watching people reject and refuse the truth of His Word will marvel you.

However, there are many pitfalls that await young ministers. There is the pitfall of a know-it-all, the pitfall of a prayer less life, the pitfall of harboring sexual sins in the pulpit while you pray and preach. There is the pitfall of being a despot and lording it over the people. There is the pitfall of harshly preaching to people and the pitfall of disloyalty to senior pastors. There is the pitfall of selling the anointing and the pitfall of preaching for money or having a following. There is the pitfall of preaching unsound doctrine that violates canon scripture.

There are many more pitfalls that will be discussed in this manual. What we want to do is prepare you for the most rewarding experience in the world. As you get into this manual, you will be challenged. Our intent is not to put you through to the degree that you become discouraged. Our intent is to prepare you for what is ahead as the Lord uses you in certain areas of ministry. We want to give several suggestions as you begin this manual.
