From School Library Journal:
Gr 4-6-These books all begin with similar introductions; however, each one is punctuated with different photos and textual details specific to the featured tribe. The sections are succinct, but inclusive, not shying away from describing the mistakes made during the era of Native relocation and, in many cases, eradication. The chapters on traditions clearly distinguish past from present practices and beliefs, and each book ends with two chapters devoted to the tribe's current way of life, as well as the issues that are affecting its members politically, socially, and environmentally. Each volume includes suggested activities for extending learning. These titles will serve as excellent resources for any curriculum that includes a study of specific Native American tribes. The writing is straightforward and easily understood, and includes an abundance of interesting facts, full-color photographs, and historical images.-Maggie Chase, Boise State University, IDα(c) Copyright 2011.
