A native New Yorker who has been married for 23 years, Sara Hernandez has been caring for children most of her life. In high school Sara worked part-time in a day care center. After she married and started a family she became a stay at home mom and a care provider to many children by helping other mothers in her community. When her son started school she began working part-time in the New York City public school system and for more than 16 years she has been working with children from pre-kindergarten to the eighth grade. Once her son attended school full time Sara became a role model to him by continuing her education. Sara has been a Sunday school teacher for more than 20 years. Humbly she says "Most of the children I first taught are now in college or working, we're still in touch and going to church." She is frequently called on by church groups to share her expertise in parenting. "I have learned a lot over the years" she says, "and I enjoy doing these presentations."
