From the Author:
This book is different from many of the other books on vSphere, in that we have taken a deliberative approach that focuses (in almost every chapter of the book) on planning for the topic being covered, implementation details, security considerations, and finally a section on troubleshooting. We have linked content throughout the book to minimize duplication, and yet inform you where to go when you need to look up related material. We have created a book designed for beginners, yet with enough information to be helpful to those with more experience, and have made a particular point of pointing out changes. We also have tried hard to help both those new to vSphere 5 as well as those who wish to upgrade form previous versions.
We are all trainers and consultants and have tried to bring our training and consulting background into this project to discuss practical issues you should be aware of, as well as tips and tricks. We have brought many examples we have used from our training classes to make complex concepts easier to understand.
This book doesn't read like a traditional book that is focused on presenting the facts in a straightforward, often dry, manner, but rather much more like you were a student in one of our classes with an ongoing dialog with you, the reader. We hope you will enjoy this style and find it easy to read.
