Late 1999, I got this crazy idea that I wanted to write a book. Thus began the journey of, "Welcome to the Show." The name of the book has evolved and so has the poems throughout the book. Like most poets, some of the entries are taken from real life experiences while others are purely fictitious. "Welcome to the Show," chronicles my journey through the early years in the Army, my time in college and the recent passing of my father. It contains poems of a varied nature, many of which pushes the creativity of poetry itself. In writing this book, I wanted to create a body of work that reflected the constant fluctuation of one's life in motion. I wanted it to be refreshing, hip and sexy. Some of the wordings are old, playing on themes of years gone by. But throughout the book what you'll find are poems reflecting on my love for life and all the other intricacies that makes it worth living. Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the show!!!

About the Author:
1LT Dowayne L. Anderson was born in Kingston Jamaica in September 1979. He attended St. George's College (high school) and upon graduating in July 1996 moved to Atlanta Georgia to be with his father and younger sister. Upon arriving in the U.S., he enlisted in the Army and served on active duty from April 1997 to April 2001. During his enlistment, he was stationed at Ft. Carson (Colorado), Schweinfurt Germany and was deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Southern Watch from September 1997 to December 1997. He continued to serve in the Army National Guard during his time in college, while also enrolled in the Georgia State University ROTC program. He graduated from Georgia State University with a B.A. in Political Science: International Affairs in 2005, then, worked briefly as a contractor with the US Department of Labor / Job Corps. In January 2007, he graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate from the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School located at Ft. Benning Georgia. "Welcome to the Show" is his first written publication but he hopes to continue to write and publish more in the future. He and his wife Aenoi currently reside in Colorado Springs with their dog Lola.
