The Wide Awake Gift: A Know Nothing Token For 1855 is a book written by J.R. Drake and published in 1854. The book is a collection of stories, poems, and illustrations that was created to promote the American political movement known as the Know Nothing Party. The Know Nothings were a secretive organization that was formed in the mid-1800s and were known for their anti-immigrant and anti-Catholic views. The book includes contributions from various writers and artists, including Nathaniel Hawthorne, who wrote a short story titled ""The Great Carbuncle."" The illustrations in the book are also notable, featuring images of American symbols such as the bald eagle and the American flag.
