Synopsis

Seppala: Alaskan Dog Driver is a book written by Elizabeth M. Ricker that tells the story of Leonhard Seppala, a legendary sled dog driver from Alaska. The book chronicles Seppala's life, from his early days as a young boy in Norway to his arrival in Alaska and his rise to fame as a dog driver. It explores Seppala's relationship with his dogs, his experiences racing in the Iditarod and other sled dog races, and his role in the serum run to Nome, a heroic effort to deliver life-saving medicine to a remote Alaskan town during a diphtheria outbreak. The book also delves into the history of sled dog racing and the importance of the sled dog in Alaskan culture.
