They cause passion to grow in us, make us view our worlds differently or gain understanding of how the other half lives. They make us laugh, they make us cry, they make us feel.
Good stories can take us to far away lands. We can uncover the secrets of the Universe. We can come to know the deeper part of ourselves that is attached to everything else in the Universe. We can fly to the moon, visit another dimension, travel back in time, find true love, become a secret agent, discover the unspoken mysteries, right wrongs and become who we've always wanted to be. It's the cheapest vacation that I know of.
