I Ray Adkins grew up in the mountains of Southeastern,Kentucky. My family is from Coeburn,Va. My ancestors joined the Confederacy in Wise County,Virginia. I have always been interested in the War Between the States. I played as a child in Cumberland Gap, In the National Park. I am a Kentucky Colonel, member of the Pvt.E.F. Arthur Camp #1783, Sons of Confederate Veterans. I am Colonel of the 5th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment, which is the largest Re-enactment group in the state of Kentucky. Iam CEO of the Battle of Barbourville Inc, which hosts the Battle of Barbourville. I am a Viet Nam Veteran of the U.S. Army. I reside in Artemus Kentucky. This is my second book of four, I have wrote all books so far on the great conflict of 1861-1865. I have been a War Between the States re-enactor for 11 years. My hometown is Middlesboro, Kentucky,
