About the Author

Kim Bookout, DNP, RN, CPNP has worked as a pediatric nurse practitioner for nineteen years and specializes in assisting mothers of infants and toddlers. She has also served as assistant professor in nursing at Texas Woman?s University and the University of Texas at Arlington and holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. Additionally, Bookout has coauthored multiple articles for nurse practitioners. She works as a nurse practitioner at Eighteen and Under MD in Flower Mound, Texas and is the mother of four children.

Karen Williams is a doctoral candidate specializing in African-American literature. She is also the mother of an ambitious eighteen-month-old toddler who is preparing for potty training.
