This adventure fantasy will stimulate children's imaginations and provide learning experiences to pique their curiosity. Katy is a cute, smart, and quite normal 7-year-old who embarks on her summer vacation with a cross-country train ride to California. Along the way she meets some unusual friends. Zanzibar is a snooty, know-it-all Englishman who accompanies Katy on a series of adventures. Tortulus T. Turtle resides in the LA Zoo and transports Katy all over the LA area. Together they climb the famous HOLLYWOOD sign, discover K-T comet at the Mount Wilson observatory, and capture the giant KKKKong on Santa Catalina Island. Pasadena's Hamburger Heaven is a favorite hangout and owner Mickey concocts some wonderful attractions to entice customers to his restaurant. These include the Sensational KKKKong Show, which goes awry when KKKKong escapes and takes Katy hostage atop Caltech's Millikan Library. But it's Tortulus to the rescue and all ends happily for Katy and her friends.
