The Compression Planning System is a visual group process designed to bring out a group's best thinking and energy to resolve a complex issue in an environment of fair play and equal participation led by a skilled facilitator. Compression Planning gets everybody heading in the same direction and compresses the planning time for major projects to enable your organization to achieve the results you need.

In 1992 Patrick McNellis challenged the materials that made up the manual that was being used for the Compression Planning Institute. It was, he thought, rather thin. That started him down a pathway of collecting all of the Compression Planning knowledge that was out there and putting it in a format that was user-friendly and easy to understand for future participants. Pat has always been interested in how skills learned in a "workshop" transfer back and manifest themselves in the workplace. He has taken this interest and has spent hundreds of hours developing this book to serve as a "reference manual" for graduates of the Compression Planning Institute. Knowing that after the workshop there would be questions about dealing with certain situations, Pat developed this comprehensive "database of Compression Planning knowledge" to help smooth the way through new planning ventures. Pat McNellis is a "helper" at heart. He's a gifted facilitator and coach and thoroughly enjoys helping friends and colleagues think through "tricky" issues - whether they are professional in nature or personal. He is often sought after to help friends develop high-impact resumes and cover letters and his track record for "getting the interview" has been remarkable. He credits Compression Planning and digging for the uniqueness as the foundation for this success. When Pat does not have his Compression Planning hat on, he's enjoying raising his toddler twins - Logan and Lauryn - along side his best friend and wife, Stephanie.
