From the Back Cover:

Quantum Non-Locality and Relativity is recognized as thepremier philosophical study of Bell's Theorem and its implicationfor the relativistic account of space and time. Previous editionshave been praised for the remarkable clarity of Maudlin'sdescriptions of both Bell's theorem and his examination of thepotential conflict between the theorem and relativity.

The third edition of this text has been carefully updated toreflect significant developments, including a new chapter coveringimportant recent work in the foundations of physics. Foremost amongthese is Roderich Tumiulka's explicit, relativistic theory that canreproduce the quantum mechanical violation of Bell's inequality. The "Free Will Theorem" of John Conway and Simon Kochen is alsodiscussed, as is the status of locality in the Many Worldsinterpretation of quantum theory. The book has also been updated toreflect recent results in information theory.

The book introduces philosophers to the relevant physics anddemonstrates how philosophical analysis can help to resolve some ofthe problems, and requires no technical background in Physics. Allof the physics is presented from first principles, and as much aspossible is presented pictorially.

About the Author:

Tim Maudlin is Professor of Philosophy at Rutgers University. He received his doctorate in History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Pittsburgh. His work lies at the intersection of physics and philosophy, including the foundations of physics and logic. He is the author of Truth and Paradox (2004) and The Metaphysics within Physics (2007). Maudlin is a member of the Academie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences and a Guggenheim Fellow.
