Synopsis

Rocks and soil—they’re always underfoot. They’re also in space, inside Earth, and in volcanoes. In this book, readers will discover how rocks, soil, and minerals are formed, and what they’re made of. Activities and questions expand on topics introduced in the text, and stimulate readers to think critically about rocks and soil. Readers will develop the skills to question and experiment scientifically, and the vocabulary to record and discuss their observations.

Review

Explores key scientific topics through a combination of concise information and fun experiments. This combination is ideal to encourage children to make their own investigations and further their own learning through hands-on experience * Parents In Touch * Peter manages to bring these pages to life with simple and fluent text ... There are plenty of areas which children will want to find out more about and I can see the book acting as a springboard to further studies * School Librarian *
