Originally published in 1838, Robert Simson’s work presents the first six books, together with the eleventh and twelfth of Euclid’s Elements. Euclid was a Greek mathematician, of the 3rd century BC who is commonly recognised to be the ‘Father of Geometry’. His Elements is possibly the most famous mathematical work of classical antiquity and was used for two millennia throughout the Western world as the basic text on geometry. The thirteen books cover geometry, proportion, and number theory. Thoroughly recommended reading for the amateur and professional mathematician alike. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive.
