About the Author

Professor Ellis trained as a psychiatrist in Wellington and was appointed Professor in 1994. He was Head of Department from 1994-2017. Between 2012 and 2018 he was also Associate Dean for Medical Education, UOW. His research interests included affective disorders and suicidal behavior; service delivery; medical education; and the history of psychiatric treatments

This text is a useful companion for the students as they develop through the programme. The chapters are supported by useful references and web links for them to further develop their reading. It is very readable and students will be able to dip in and out in relation to their assignment, practice placement or issue of interest. A well written and well presented book that I believe will be of help to any student using it to assist in their understanding of research. This book is something completely different. It provides an excellent insight into research. It covers a broad range of research methodologies and methods and is a good introductory text regarding the key concepts involved in nursing research... I believe that this would be of great help to all nursing students looking at research. It wouldn’t be out of place in the lecturer’s bookcase and I would suggest that more seasoned professionals completing research could benefit from having a copy.
