Garry Lever was born in London England. He began practising Karatedo in 1991 and continues to study Okinawan Goju Ryu Karatedo under the guidance of Richard Barrett sensei, a long term student of the legendary Miyazato Eiichi sensei. The author frequently visits Okinawa in order to conduct field research and further his understanding of the art, training under Hokama Tetsuhiro sensei in both Karate and Kobudo. The author currently teaches a small group of dedicated students at his home dojo where he endeavours to preserve the spirit and ancient training methods of classical Okinawan Karate.
