Synopsis

theNewerYork is a series of books curated and designed to challenge the literary triumvirate: novels, short-stories, and poetry. We publish new, forgotten, and weird forms of literature; short-fictions that will move you. Our book fits in your back pocket and is filled with art, illustration. typography and graphic design. The writers and editors of theNewerYork believe there are infinite ways to use language to express ourselves. We hope to build a stage for existing experimental writers, ultimately inspiring other writers and creators to explore their own boundaries.

Our alt-lit publication is entirely submissions based and funded on Kickstarter.com. In the past we have published new or overlooked literary forms such as epistolaries, users manuals, epigrams, fake reviews of fake books, fake press releases, fictional glossaries, flash-fiction, lists, literary equations, upside down stories and inside out stories. Each volume of theNewerYork contains over 30 narratives that will leave you entertained and inspired.

About the Author

Joshua Raab, editor, is Canadian born, Florida raised, California schooled, educated in English Literature and Philosophy at NYU, and lives in Los Angeles. Founder and creative director of all theNewYorker Press projects, Joshua worked at several large publishers in NYC before getting fed up with the unoriginal and disconnected culture of ''The Big Three.'' theNewerYork is how Joshua will address their shortcomings.

Review

''Very, very clever book. I like the mix of genres and illustrations- and the humor.'' ---Wendy Werris, Publisher's Weekly

''Forget the NewYorker, trash your Granta, bag your Atlantic and head straight for your fave alterna-lit outlet for the absolute ne-plus-ultra of cool-ass literary magazines you've never heard of - the still-obscure-but-soon-to-be-huge young publication known as The Newer York. Cutting edge quotes, disturbo drawings, a plethora of massively unclassifiable entries so... unclassifiable you'll feel that special combination of disturbo delight and weirdly brain-tickly stimulation that comes only from confronting the Truly New. People ran screaming from the theater when Stravinsky marched out The Rites of Spring, and, reading my copy of Newer York for the first time, I understand why... After an evening with this little baby, everything else will seem like ten years old doctor's office Redbooks. I laughed, I cried, I questioned my reason for being - and I absolutely loved this magazine.'' - Jerry Stahl, author of Permanent Midnight --- Jerry Stahl, author of Permanent Midnight
