Synopsis

Before the stories - "Transformations" and "More Terrible Than Chains", the events of one chakat family, their relatives and their friends were recounted in a series of stories told by or to Forestwalker, the family historian. These stories became known as the "Forest Tales". In them you will earn about their lives and customs, loves and hates, friends and enemies. Above all, you will find out what it's like for non-human species in a human world. These are the early stories based in the Chakat Universe. From these stories, the greater body of works grew in number and complexity, but it all started here in these tales.

About the Author

Bernard Doove was born in 1957 in a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. As a child he was always a voracious reader, with a love of fantasy and science-fiction especially. A further interest in the genre of anthropomorphic creatures combined with the love of books and the desire to write was started. After creating a unique new species, he was inspired to tell a story about them back in 1995. The inspiration continues today with more stories continually adding to his growing collection. Aside from writing, he is an amateur artist, fanzine publisher, and works on the boards of the Anthropomorphic Literature & Arts Association, and the MiDFur convention. He has won the Ursa Major Award for the best Anthropomorphic Novel for 2007 for his novel - "Life's Dream" and was inducted into the Furry Hall of Fame in 2008 by the Australian Furry Association.
