About the Author

Barney Smith, born on December 25, 1943, has lived most of his life in Orlando, Florida. After high school, he spent five years in the Merchant Marines (Sunoco) and four years in the USMC. Returning to Orlando in 1970, he was with the Orange County Sheriff's Deputy for 7¼ years, Orange County Public School system for 21 years, Florida Department of Children and Families for 1 year, and lastly, the Transportation Security Administration (under the Department of Homeland Security) for 7¼ years. He earned a master of education degree from the University of Central Florida. The majority of the book is factual and based on Barney's personal experiences at the Orlando International Airport in Orlando.
