About the Author:
Sithiphone Phetphouthay was born in Laos. He escaped his communist-occupied home region in 1968 to Savannakhet City where he graduated from a high school, Lycëe Savannakhet, in 1974. But he couldn't finish his education when the Laotian communists arrested him and put him to suffering in a secret killing camp in 1976. When he escaped this living heel in 1977, he joined the freedom fighters in the jungles of Laos. He fled to Thailand in 1981, and came to the United States of America in 1985. He continued his education at Fresno City College. In 1999 he self-published the first draft of The Red Rose in English that made him become known as a writer within the Laotian community. In 2004 he self-published his second book, The Result of The Secret Vietnam War in Laos, in Lao language. All 300 copies of this book were sold out as a whispering voice of the underground resistance in Laos. Sithiphone Phetphouthay recently moved to Utah State for employment opportunity. Now he is working as a machine operator for Easton Technical Products, Inc., in Salt Lake City.
