It's Christmas in the South, and this light-hearted rendition of the classic song is filled with Southern traditions, food, and fun! Every day of Christmas brings exciting new gifts. The cast of characters swells from one couple to include skillet lickers, praline poachers, and five Southern belles. Of course, no Southern celebration would be complete without plenty of food-grits and pralines fill every bowl and plate.
Many other down-home images shine in this send-up of Southern life and traditions. Catfish jump, piglets prance, and steamboats steam in this regional twist on the holiday carol. The bright, festive illustrations capture the spirit of every Southern state, from howling hound dogs to a porch swing by a peach tree. This sweet and funny book is sure to become a classic as children and families sing along again and again.
