Golden years can bring a lot of changes to a person. Most of them are as welcome as a pig's ear. But, with a little humor, and heavy doses of laughter, maybe we can make a silk purse.

Brought up in a family with three children, we moved about the Midwest frequently as my father was transferred from one job site to another. When I entered the seventh grade at Ten Mile School, a four room school in East Peoria, IL, I had a wonderful teacher. Mrs. Clara Bender taught me to love the written word. I have been reading anything and everything since then. In the many phases of my life since then, I have experienced the joys raising my own family, a career in the medical office, the excitement of grandchildren, and the heartbreak of loss. It is my belief that everything happens for a reason. I try to find the reason and give thanks for it. Now, with the encouragement of friends and family, I am writing some of my experiences for others to enjoy. I hope it will send the message to other seniors to do the same. Age brings wisdom.
