Synopsis

Paradise is a place you go to escape your problems. Unfortunately, for Captain Brian - part-time sailor/philosopher and full-time hedonistic hero of this entertaining Caribbean novel - trouble has a way of finding him. First, his dissolute friend, Leif the Thief, is mysteriously murdered. Then the seductive Billie insists that they team up, in more ways than one, to solve the crime. Unfortunately, a federal agent and a local constable decide to complicate Captain Brians carefree existence. All adds up to an entertaining mixture of shady characters, sunny places and escapist tropical fiction.

Review

"...[a] collection of eccentric characters and madcap happenings...Locks, through Captain Brian, draws a vivid picture in intelligent, finished prose." — Minneapolis Star Tribune

"...a page-turning race to the finish..." — Minneapolis Observer Quarterly

"Charles Locks gives readers a reason to come out of the cold with his mystery novel Greater Trouble in the Lesser Antilles." — The Villager

St. Paul resident Charles Locks has signaled his arrival in the land of Carl Hiassen, Tim Dorsey, James W. Hall and Les Standiford with Greater Trouble in Lesser Antilles, a story with the kind of murder and romance that my customers can’t get enough of." Mitchell Kaplan, owner of Books and Books, Coral Gables, Florida, and former President of American Booksellers Association.

Charles Locks’ smart, clean prose sails through the shark-filled waters of paradise and sinks more than a few whodunit clichés along the way.” Chuck Logan, author of Homefront

Locks takes the blue, blue waters of the Caribbean, adds murder and romance, then mixes it to a froth. A killer of a drink.” Mary Logue, poet, and author of Poison Heart
