The brain is one of the most complex organs in our body. Its development begins before birth, continues into our twenties, and carries on remodelling itself as we get older. Current research on brain development shows us that the experiences of a child's first days, months and years have the most profound and decisive impact on the overall development of the brain which impacts on the nature and extent of adult capabilities.Written by a neurological expert, 'Nurturing a Healthy Mind' takes the available science and translates it for parents in an easy - to - understand and user - friendly format. It explains what brain development processes are happening during the first years of a child's life from conception to their first day of school in order to help parents provide the best possible environment for healthy child development.
