From the Author:
Having written four books about Cuba, it's not surprising that I get a lot of questions about the island. None are more frequent than, "What are the island's best beaches?" That question poses to problems. First, how do you pick a "best" from the islands thousands of miles of coastline--not to mention the coastline of hundreds of offshore islands that are also part of the nation and each have their own spectacular beaches. Second, what does one mean by the word, "best"? Clearly, someone who wants to stay in a classy beach resort is going to define "best" differently from someone who wants to mix and mingle with everyday Cubans, and neither will be the same as that of someone who wants to spend time on a beautiful beach that rarely sees a tourist or a Cuban. It was largely to answer the question of which are Cuba's "best beaches" in each of these categories that we wrote this guide.
From the Back Cover:
Cuba's 30 best beaches are described here, plus information on how to get yourself there, where you can stay, and what there is to see and do on the water and in the surrounding area. Rosa Jordan and Derek Choukalos, co-authors of Lonely Planet's Cycling Cuba, have made many trips to Cuba and are familiar with its best (and worst) beaches. This guide makes it easy to choose the right one for you.
