Synopsis

Often hilarious and always thoughtful, "For What it's Worth, Love Dad" gives the reader practical and sometimes profound advice on life, living and how precious the bonds are between parents and their children. Simply worded principles and personal experiences that speak to everyone. A must read for parents, new parents, even grandparents, but especially the young adults striking out on their own for the first time. Smith's engaging writing style puts the reader front row and center as he describes the always touching, often comical, and occassionally quite serious moments of a life well lived. "For What It's Worth, Love Dad" is a family's heirloom to be treasured by families everywhere.

From the Author

If your family's needs are getting in the way of your quest for a paycheck, this book is for you.
If you're a teen and thoroughly perplexed by the confusing advice your Mom & Dad are giving you, then this book is for you, too!
The fact is, all families share the same experiences and mine are probably a lot like yours. We're all children of parents and some of are lucky enough to be parents or even grandparents.
And if you want to reconnect with what was or envision what will be....then this book is especially for you!
The laughter, the tears, the fears are all there waiting to be encountered by parents (or remembered as children) and from what I'm told, this little book unlocks those recesses of your memory, releasing the smiles, laughter, (and tears) you've forgotten.
I wrote "For What It's Worth, Love Dad" to fill the void my kids left behind. In it, I revisit some of the more memorable times we shared and some of those moments that seem so inconsequential when they happen but so precious when they've passed. As the book took shape, I realized that there was so much more that I could help my children with. And, in the writing, I also found a healing that had been needed between me and my own father, as well.

Let me know what you think and what memories my little book brings back for you.
Most Sincerely,
B. Smith

Review

"Smith serves forth this collection of memories, though it is primarily for his own children's benefit... his disarmingly unvarnished tone almost instantly qualify him as someone to whom attention would well be paid...... Smith's words may qualify for that rarest of family treasures: the true heirloom." - Kirkus Indie Review

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The stories were wonderful! The values and lessons learned and the great advice between chapters are very important, seems even more so anymore. I laughed out loud several times and cried a time or two also, this book really was enjoyable! -"mom2boys2002"

Truly a fabulous piece of work! I loved how the author drew the reader in with his witty descriptions of accounts that occurred in his life and fact-of-the-matter adages. I found myself giggling out loud within the first couple pages ... I could totally relate to what the author was saying and it brought back memories from my own childhood. This is a heartfelt book about a father's love for his family which can be enjoyed by anyone. It will provide you with warmth, a great laugh, maybe a tear or two, and practical advice that you can use at any age. Very refreshing and a must read!
-Emily

When I finished this book and put it down, the first words that came out of my mouth was 'Wow, what a wonderful book'. This book ties in all emotions of being a parent. From being scared out of your mind, to furious, and the funny experiences. I laughed through a few of the chapters cause I can actually see those things happening. I cried from the advice that the author gave and of course, the last chapter.
I highly recommend this book to everyone!! I already recommended it to my friends.
