Frank Stowell is Professor of Systems and Information Systems at the University of Portsmouth, England. He has a PhD in organisational change and is an acknowledged expert in Systems Thinking and Practice. He has published papers and texts in this field and presented papers at a number of international conferences in Europe and the United States. He has supervised a large number of research projects and continues to supervise and examine PhD research in information systems provision. He is an external examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the UK and recently in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. He was also a specialist reviewer for the Quality Assurance agency for Higher Education within the UK. He is Chair of the Council of Information Systems Professors (CISP). Prior to his academic career he was a systems engineer working in communications and cryptography.
