Chapter One

Colossians Chapter 3 Verse 16

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord

He Came To the Earth

He came to the earth
To save me
A spiritual birth
He gave me
I will go forward
And boldly
To do as my Lord
Has told me


In the Silence

In the silence I find
joy visiting like a
light in the dark
reaching out with
compassionate
hands to let me know
I'm loved.


God's Garden

We are all plants
in God's great garden
His knowledge
is our soil

With it
We can live forever

Without it
We wilt and die

Proverbs Chapter 4 Verses 20, 21, and 22

(20) My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. (21) let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. (22) For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

At this alter

I will pray
Till all my troubles
Go away

The tears will fall
And my heart will get
A touch from God
Inside of it

No I'll not leave
With burdens inside
I just won't go
Till I'm revived

Renewed in the spirit
Made whole again
No I won't leave
Till Christ says when

I'll stay and pray
Till this man's complete
I won't back down
There is no retreat

I'm here for a touch
From my best friend
And that touch will come

I Rise

I rise
and find
myself marveling
at the change
that's taken
place
in my
life.

There's a sense of harmony
coming from within.
Almost like breathing from
the heart.
And lively excitements are
surging through my being.

God is with me.
And everything's alright.


There's Power in the Word

There's power in the word
The living word of God
Just waiting to explode
To quicken someone's heart

To guide a new creature
Into a holy life
With our God and Teacher
The Lord Jesus Christ

Romans Chapter 10 Verses 8, 9, and 10

(8) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; ( 9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I'm alive
Praise God I'm free
I've got the spirit
Inside of me
Directing my way
Guiding my path

The Precious Blood

I'll never return
To the man I use to be
For that man is gone
And now there's just me
A man that's been freed
From yesterday's chains
Yesterday's worries
And yesterday's pains
No longer imprisoned
In a sinful cell
`Cause He's paid the ransom
And made my bail

Who but Christ could pull me out
Of a pit that I had dug

And make it something good

For once I traveled lonely
On a deadend road of sin
Until that day I asked Him
To switch me roads, amen

He pulled me off that road
And changed my entire direction
He saved and made me whole
On a road of resurrection
No, there's just no returning
To that man I use to be
I have found the Lord Jesus
And with Him a new me

And buy me from this world

Himself in place of us

You alone are worthy

Love

It was the answer at the cross
On that day when men said why
As they lifted up our Savior
And left Him there to die

It was the answer at the tomb
On that day when men said how
As our resurrected Savior
Gave all the world a wow

John Chapter 3 Verse 16

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

In Tomorrow

(Proverbs Chapter 23 Verse 5)

In tomorow I find today
Often looked passed and pushed away

Thoughts have been working inside my mind
Today holds the gold one strives to find

Why hope for things I havent got
When what I've got is quite a lot

Why hope for things that aren't even real
When this I've got I both see and feel

What makes one want more, what were they told?
Why trade a rainbow for make-believe gold?

Really I've got all that I need
God's blessings on me, I'll succeed

I'm not going to waste precious time
Hoping for this and that to be mine

`Cause some years down that vain dark road
I'd just find that today was the gold

To sum up this poem in one line, I'd say
Don't wait till tomorrow to love today


I Am a Child of God

The storm moves on, I have
passed my test and am still
on my feet, listening to the
distancing thunder

I am not the same man
that I used to be who
brought upon himself
needless blunder after blunder

I am a child of God
With hopes and goals for
life going to be a light
so that those who are in the
dark can see

I want everyone that's
hurting to hear and
understand that Jesus can set
you free from the pain
of captivity

You've been blinded, caught
up in the distractions of the world,
misguided and led astray

But I'm telling you very plainly
and simply that it doesn't
have to stay that way

For a light has come
into all our lives
and opened eyes will
notice and see

That Jesus is Lord
and Savior for all
who will call on Him
to be set free


Unsinkable Ships

Unsinkable ships
wrestling with
relentless waves
that hurl attempts
of disaster
unsuccessfully
accomplishing
destruction.

I'm glad we're
Christians.

1 John Chapter 4 Verse 4

Ye are of God, little children, and have over-come them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

What a Morning

I wake from a good dream
Refreshed and exceedingly
excited

The morning has dawned
I am blessed
and happy

Birds are singing
outside in the sky
touching the
hearts of all
who are
listening

Glad people are waving
to one another
Anxious to get where
they're going
Grateful to be going there

Yes, the day is fine
A very fine, fine day
The sun shining here
And a million miles away

It's wonderful to be alive
It's days like this I really
feel closer to God
Thank You Father


Have Joy Tonight

(A poem to the doubting believer.)

Have joy tonight, don't stay there in pain
Letting those pressures of doubting remain
Have faith, Jesus is there, He's there right now
Right there beside you, and we know this how?
Because He says so. Do you believe Him?
His promises are yes, amen to them
He'll never leave us, never means never
He's with us always, that means forever
Have joy tonight and leave from that place
Where the shadows of doubt cover your face
Your frowns have been dark, not worth their while
So jump in the light with a big smile
The Lord knows your heart, He knows how you feel
And is there to take you passed this ordeal
Let go of yourself and fall in His care
You won't touch bottom, not with Jesus there
Are you ready to trust Him? Trust Him now
He's right there with you, and we know this how?
(Read the first half of line 5)
Have joy tonight, have joy tonight
Take comfort child in your Saviors light


Be Hopeful

In darkness
There is nothing
In light
There is everything
In hate
There is misery
In love
There is hope

Love to love
Hate to hate

Be wise in all your judgments
Use careful instinct when
amongst temptation

Good judgment requires
strong faith

Calculate before reaping
the consequences ahead

Does what you're going
to do line up with
the word of God?

If you can't
back it up with
scripture
don't do it.

Do as the Lord would tell
you to do
As the Lord has told you
to do
And what you have done
will be just

Jesus is love
He is our hope
So love Jesus
And be hopeful

1 John Chapter 5 Verse 1

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth Him that begat loveth Him also that is begotten of Him.

I Am Yours

O Lord

You build me
and shape me
into what I am
I am Yours
forever and ever
and ever, amen

Lead me
Guide me
Where You want me to be
Over there
Over here
Wherever Your need

Use me
Choose me
For anything at all
Take me
Make me
For great or for small

You overwhelm me
over and over
and over again
I am Yours forever
and ever and ever
amen


Breathe

Breathe
Isn't life great
Breathe
Filled with hope
Breathe
Serving a God
Breathe
Filled with love


His Sheep

I am His sheep
And do hear His voice
I know His words
And so I rejoice
He is my Shepherd
He leads the way
He is my guide
I will not stray
He leads me to pastures
Plentiful and green
He takes me to waters
Beautiful and clean
He makes me aware
Of things I need to know
He's the good Shepherd
I do closely follow
I know His blessings
And I will rejoice
I am His sheep
And do hear His voice

John Chapter 10 Verse 27

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me:

God Touches the Life

God touches the life
that cares for a lost soul
trying to find
its way
into
a peaceful world.


Away

With a smile
A frown goes away
With a laugh
Tears can't stay
With some help
Hard times fade
With company
Loneliness stays
Away


Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself

Don't owe me anything
Nor anyone else
But just be loving
As if I were yourself

Please just treat me
As you'd have me treat you
In the things you say
In the things you do

And I won't owe you anything
Nor anyone else
I will just be loving
As if you were myself

The same goes for me
As it does for you
In all that I say
In all that I do

Of all the commandments
That there ever have been
If we just do this one
We're doing them all friend

If only we could grasp that
If we could just understand
How far could we get
Can you even imagine

Come on brothers, sisters
Let's get this in our hearts
That's where it happens
That's where it starts

When our Lord was on the cross
He wasn't there for Himself
No, He lived by what He said
Love thy neighbor as thyself

Our God died for us
Both for you and for me
Let's continue in that love
In honer of our King

This was His command
That we love one another
Brother love your sister
Sister love your brother
Brother love that man
That hit you yesterday
Sister love that woman
That called you all those names

Brother love that man
That robbed you last night
Sister love that woman
That doesn't treat you right

For Christ loves them all
And tells us to do the same
For us to bear that cross
And magnify His name

He saved us my brothers
Truely we are free
He took away our sins
O glory to the King!

Let's show Him we're thankful
Thankful within ourself
By obeying His command
Love thy neighbor as thyself

Romans Chapter 13 Verses 8 and 9

(8) Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another have fulfilled the law. (9) For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bare false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

The Word is Life

The word is life
To them that will hear
And by it practice
With heart's sincere
Who live their lives in good standing
with God, a righteous living
Being humble, obediant,
observing, and forgiving
Who live each day
In the spirit of the Lord
Practicing and teaching
The word of God, their sword
Who show that our Lord Jesus
Still lives within
The bodies of Christians
Who love Him, amen


Freed

Like a bird that's freed
From a small steel cage
Is the man who's relieved
Of his mind's harmful rage
Like a deer that escapes
From the hunters shots
Is the man who puts
Jesus in his thoughts
Like a fish thrown back
Into the pond
Is the man who repents
Of his wrong
Like a locust that comes
From out his shell
Is the born again Christian
Saved from hell


When the Darkness Sweeps Through

Roaring like a stalking, savage lion
The darkness sweeps on through
It seems to be the enemy's trying
To blind and destroy you
He's evil, mean, with horrible intentions
He wants you brought down low
Nasty and obscene, too awful to mention
The distance he will go
He's come to make you miserable
To disturb your peace of mind
To hurt you something terrible
His ways are so unkind
What are you going to do?
Stand there vulnerably and shake
Like a limb struck by lightning?
Give in to pressure and break?
No! In faith proclaim boldly, speak plainly
In chapter 10 verse 19 of Luke
We're given power over all of the enemy
So in Jesus name, enemy, I rebuke!
You have no power at all over me
Scram devil, accept your loss
My Lord beat you publicly on the tree
He overcame you at the cross
Hallelujah! Victory is the Lord's today
So you get thee on behind
And the next time you want to cause dismay
Just keep that well in mind

Praise the Lord!

Luke Chapter 10 Verses 19 and 20

(19) Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (20) Notwithstanding, in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Sleep Well

Turn out the light
And say goodnight
Tomorrow the sun
Will shine more bright

Get in your bed
Lay down your head
No more worry
No more dread

Clear your mind
And you may find
A peacful dream
That's pure and kind

Now get a good night's rest
With rest at its best
We'll see you tomorrow
Sleep well and be blessed

In the name of Jesus


Love Today

Be glad for tomorrow
and love today
while it's here.

Because tomorrow
it will
be gone.


Trust in the Lord

If the world gets you down
There's just one thing you can do
Make your knees hit the ground
And ask God to get you through

He knows what you need
So trust in Him to deliver
He knows how to feed
The heart of the believer

Don't let sorrows keep you down
We serve an awesome Lord
It's not good for you to frown
`Cause you have been restored

He'll get you through your trouble
So cheer on up and worship
Why, He'll pay you back double
With a blessing and a tip

Good things come to all God's people
Our Lord does bless our lives
And though the world may not be able
The child of God survives

Just trust in the Lord

1 John Chapter 5 Verse 4

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

You're Gonna Make It

Don't cry anymore
We win the war
Put away your pain
Get out of the rain
Dry yourself off
You're not so lost
Wipe off those tears
Throw off those fears
Just four words to say
It's gonna be okay
You're gonna make it
It's time to shake it
Get all that frustration out
Survival's the Christian's rout
You're a surviver
With one great reviver
Our God of great comfort
Our strength and our support
He carries us through our struggles
And delivers us from our troubles
He provides our needs each day
And shows us the right way
He takes away our sin
So that we can live again
Now get up from your worry
Hurry, hurry, hurry
Put on your biggest smile
Wear it for a while
There just isn't anything better
And they're won't ever be ever
Than the love of our Savior
Who puts us back together
