Synopsis
Established in June 1940, the Long Range Desert Group was the inspiration of scientist and soldier Major Ralph Bagnold, a contemporary of T.E Lawrence who, in the inter-war years, explored the North African desert in a Model T Ford automobile.

About the Author
Gavin Mortimer is arguably the world's leading authority on wartime special forces. He has written a number of books on the subject, includingStirling's Men, a ground-breaking history of the early operations of the SAS,The Longest Night: Voices from the London Blitz,The Blitz: An Illustrated Historyand the best-sellingThe SBS in World War II.
