Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the Brigade Machine Gun Company, 72 Infantry Brigade, 24th Division, covering March 1916 to September 1917 across 107 pages. It names 60 places across 65 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries two reports, narratives and plans and seven Operation Orders. Among the papers are: Correction to operation order No. 2; Operation order No. 7. The diary opens at Grantham on 9 March 1916. 1916 is spent at Trenches Hulluch, Kammel Wulverghem, Petit Pont, Monfliers and La Levrette. 1917 is the most travelled year, 34 places against 27 in the next busiest, and is spent at Bully Grenay & Calonne, Allouagne, Watterdal and Trenches Double Crassier and Calonne Sector. It closes at Villeret on 28 September 1917. Trenches Hulluch is where it spent longest, 61 days across three separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 31 days at Kammel Wulverghem.
