From the Back Cover

"Let me get you to sign something," I said. I walked around and popped the trunk and opened my briefcase and pulled out a standard form and started filling in the blanks. The form explained that Rebecca Westerfield was hiring me for help in investigating a confidential matter.

She read it through, then signed by the X.
I felt like whistling. The sky was gray, the projects dreary. But it was shaping up to be a beautiful day.
I hadn't been this close to a homicide investigation in years. I could almost smell the blood.
