About the Author

Dr. Lee Hartley read The Power of Positive Thinking at age 14. This opened a door to just how powerful the mind is and led to a lifelong interest in personal development. This knowledge has served her well.

As an only child who had polio, she used her imagination and creativity to entertain herself with art activities. She had difficulty learning to read, but was good at interpreting the visual cues to make up a story about what Dick, Jane and Spot were doing. This fake it til you make it routine worked for awhile. She finally learned to read in 4th grade when it was discovered that she saw double. With vision therapy and glasses it finally all came into focus and moved her onto a life-long learning path. She loves the challenges of learning something new.

Early on her favorite learning mode became stories. It was honed at school and church, as well as through radio programs, Saturday matinees with weekly to be continued serials, newsreels showing photos of famous people in far away places, and of course, TV. Early in her career she was a teacher and education counselor. She carried her love of working with people into her work doing career counseling and as a psychotherapist specializing in PTSD. She is adept at asking perceptive questions to generate proactive ideas from a perspective that holds the big picture as well as the details. This ability enables her to use therapeutic tools to assist clients to deal with issues that block them from being all they can be. She is the author of Aftershocks of Stress, Crisis, and Trauma published in 2002.

Bringing together all of her skills and interests she started Hartley Consulting & Publishing (HCP) in 2009 where she is a book and ebook consultant and publisher. Her office is in Los Gatos, California.

Dr. David Bruner is the Spiritual Director of the Center for Spiritual Living in San Jose, California. His irreverent sense of humor and everyday kind of guy style makes him adored by his congregation that and his love of God, people and animals, Harry Potter and a peculiar fondness for People magazine, Taco Doritos, and great neckties.

Being raised with two brothers, seven sisters and one bathroom helped him master the art of effective communication at an early age.

He is funny, very funny, although when asked he will tell you, looks aren t everything. He is a compelling, charismatic speaker known and loved for his practical, often unorthodox approach to spirituality. His best-loved sermons are typically self-effacing, and you may find out on one Sunday he is excitedly pursuing the path of forgiveness following a four-hour experience at the California DMV, and the next week you ll hear about his escapades in a trapeze class. Dr. David has been a Religious Science Minister for 15 years, became Spiritual Director of the Center for Spiritual Living in San Jose in 2000 and received his Doctor of Divinity in 2009.

He moved to Northern California from his native Los Angeles in 1999 and currently resides in Oakland with Mauricio Lopez and their two dogs, Dobby and Winky.
