Those who are born into grinding "dirt poor" poverty have little chance of escape to a better way of life. Of course, some do escape. But it is an "extremely" small number. Of these that do many are unable to adjust and be comforted by a more normal life. Uneducated and dirt poor they lack the most basic, simple survival skills, reading, writing, addition, subtraction. This book is a fictional story of several such characters, but the story has a basis in fact of real life circumstances and real life people. They were “feral” children and often grew into savage, brutal and untamed (feral) adults. The idea that we can fix them with government programs is misguided. They must have a benefactor of some kind, "a connection" outside the world of those who are "dirt poor."

About the Author:
Gary F. Paduch was born 1940 and graduated college in 1963. Dirt Poor is Mr. Paduch’s sixth book. It is the fictional story of poor and uneducated families living in abject poverty, facing the struggle of daily life. No Real Choices, Mr. Paduch's fifth book, is a suspense novel set in East Tennessee about a brother and sister facing and dealing with the adversity in their lives. Nothing Is Easy, Mr. Paduch's fourth book, provides an insight of the people of East Tennessee in the late 1950's to early 1960's. These hard working people contributed directly and indirectly to the texture of our national character. They were colorful, iconic, and independent. Be Quiet - Be Patient, his third book, is an adventure/action work of fiction. His second book, Allegheny Muskrat Code, recounts his younger years living in the Allegheny River Valley locale. He taught school for two years, one year at Miller School of Albemarle, and one year in the Public School System of the State of Michigan. Mr. Paduch has been an artist and painter all of his life. After leaving the teaching profession, entered the business world as a real estate developer for the past 47 years. His first book, My Year At Miller School, recounts his experiences at Miller School of Albemarle in 1963 - 1964.
