Transforming the inevitability of aging into an opportunity for enhancing life’s possibilities and pleasures, psychologists Marjorie Bayes and Bonnie Messer promote strategies of aging that do not minimize losses, but maximize liberation. Freedom and fun await the older adult who chooses not just to survive but to thrive. By building on one’s strengths, yet breaking from the past, aging can become a synonym for unexpected discovery, unanticipated joy, and unparalleled satisfaction.
