About the Author

I remember growing up in rural Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Our family didn't have a lot of money so we quickly learn to be very resourceful. I think that being somewhat impoverished as a child has made me more creative, especially in my writings. As a child you learn to cope and adjust to your surroundings. I knew that I wouldn't get the kinds of toys that others got during the Holiday season, so I sort of made my own toys and fun...you had to back then. And as I grew older, creating things from nothing served me very well as I learned to use my strong imagination to create original, colorful characters and sometimes wild, compelling stories as a writer. One of the things that really eased me during my childhood was sitting and watching the local Rappahannock River. I remember as a child just looking at the water go by and wondering where it was going to...and that thought often fascinated me so much that a lot of my own stories and songs have this very same underlying theme of someone being stuck somewhere and must try to get out somehow...some way. As a writer, I really appreciate what the Rappahannock River did for me. Without knowing and realizing it as a child, this mighty river and its flowing waters gave me much-needed guidance. Sometimes, as I currently write today, I still wonder where my words and stories will eventually take me...just like the flowing waters of the Rappahannock...where is it going?...where am I going? My personal message to the next generation is "Stay Focus and Keep Dreaming!" - Sincerely, Randy Camp
(RANDOLPH RANDY CAMP, author of the screenplays LABREA'S MOON, TONY'S BIKE and HARRY'S FIELD, was born on March 12, 1961 in rural Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Randy graduated from Spotsylvania Senior High School in June 1979.  Currently, Randy resides in Des Moines, Iowa. Randy has five daughters, Christina, Natasha, Randie, Melinda, Ranielle and one son Joshua.)
