Synopsis

IN ONE SECOND YOUR WHOLE LIFE CAN CHANGE... Damie Jean Barber had a normal childhood. She grew up relatively happy, earned a college degree, and spent two years teaching in a public system. Then she began a different life-in construction. She was a female in a man's world, but in less than four years she went from bottom helper to general foreman. Life was grand. A few years later, Damie changed her life yet again. In her thirties, she was self-employed on the East Coast-enjoying life, raising two teenagers, working, and traveling. Life was great. November 5, 1994, was a beautiful fall day, and Damie was looking forward to an enjoyable evening with her husband. One moment she was wondering what to wear, and less than one second later, Damie's whole world had changed. She would go from being an intelligent, active adult to one who was later called a "walking miracle." Forgotten Danger is a honest and moving memoir that chronicles one woman's struggle to overcome the devastating effects of a stroke and reclaim her independence.
