From the Author:
Growing up, I lived in a small town at the very tip of the state of Illinois, about 30 miles north of
where the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers meet. That little town is now "East of the Sun and West of the Moon." It no longer exists, except in the distant and dust-laden memories of all the people who have left it. The town's name, McClane, still appears on road maps -- and some people still inhabit the place, but the town I knew -- is no longer there.
These stories have been drifting around in mymind for several years, seeking an egress. I hope you enjoy these few that have escaped. The names and some of the facts contained within these brief tales have been slightly altered to protect the guilty.
