About the Author:

Zachary Schaefer, Ph.D. is a professor, consultant, coach, trainer, researcher, and author who loves working with students and clients to improve their communication and conflict management skills. Dr. Z, as his students call him, teaches organizational communication and a variety of courses related to conflict management, leadership, and small group development within organizational contexts. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication from Saint Louis University and his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. His primary research interests are the relationship between organizational action and structure, investigating how organizations and communities use mediation, and exploring the relationship between leadership, conflict management, and communication. He has presented at many academic and professional conferences, and his work has appeared in Management Communication Quarterly, The International Communication Association Handbook of Communication Ethics, and Communication Teacher. Dr. Z has also worked in the field of trial litigation as a qualitative researcher.
