From the Author:
Being a woman playwright I tend to write a lot about women. This collection of contemporary monologues are original and were either written as a monologue or digested from one of my full length or short plays.
Three of the pieces written for the African-American actress are from my full length play, "Scent of Magnolia", A Tribute to Billie Holiday. These soliloquies are unique as they can be used with the featured song (by Holiday) or as a straight performance piece.
I also wanted to write about the do's and don'ts of auditioning. Strip away the pompous rules that some may spout....my chapter on the auditioning process springs from 30 years in the theatre and countless auditions as an actor and director. I have been on both sides of the table.
