Synopsis

"Dee-lightful Musings of an Old Country Woman" offers a brand of humor unlike anything you've seen in recent years. It's good, clean, hysterical fun with an old-fashioned, southern flair. You'll fall in love with Dee – the "star of the show" – who possesses the innocence of Rose Nylund, the zaniness of Gracie Allen and the southern comfort of Aunt Bee. Dee is a simple soul who comes from the old school. Her understanding of people, life, technology and almost everything else is quite basic and almost child-like at times, offering a very refreshing and humorous take on the modern world. She is "country" in every sense of the word and has her own unique language and expressions which few knew about until Vicki moved to the neighborhood. During the summer of 2011, after their relationship had transformed from neighbors to friends, Vicki started taking notes during their visits, recording Dee's unique words and expressions which evolved into the recording of their full-length conversations. Since April of 2012, many of these conversations have been shared on Facebook to an ever-growing audience. The book contains their first 365 recorded dialogues. In one of their earlier conversations, Dee told the story of how the city once "trinkelized" a neighborhood dog with a "trinkelizer gun." In another conversation, Dee shared her youthful dream to be a hippie. The two neighbors talk about everything under the sun, including whether or not there will be fried chicken in Heaven, the job description of underwear inspectors, Christopher Columbus' discovery of America in 1892, whether or not people have gizzards and how to maneuver an electric scooter through Wal-Mart. Some of their Facebook fans have described Dee and Vicki as a modern-day Burns & Allen, with Vicki offering the common sense and straight lines and Dee offering the misunderstandings, confusion and hilarity. In Dee's unique and complex language, Facebook is Spacebook, lesbians are lisbens, Attention Defecit Disorder is referred to as HDTV, documentaries are doctor-mentaries, poetry is poultry, Prozac is Pojack and Dee's Wii entertainment system is simply referred to as "the Weed." Together, Dee and Vicki observe and discuss their neighbors, their memories, animals, news, technology, philosophy, television shows and much more! It really is much like the written word version of a comedic reality show. The reader will become enamored by Dee's charm and entertained by her befuddled reasoning. Each conversation will offer a clearer insight into Dee's precious and unique personality and the daily life of two friends who couldn't be more opposite if they tried!
