About the Author
Ramon Olivera has been drawing things with wings ever since he was a kid. He grew up in Santa Clara, California, watching P-3C Orions (and an occasional Blue Angel) take to the skies from nearby Moffett Field. Ramon graduated from San Jose State University with a BS in illustration. Since then he’s been working as an illustrator in Kansas City, Missouri. PreS-K—Olivera follows up his ABCs on Wings with this mostly terrestrial vehicular alphabet (lunar rover being the only exception). Illustrated in a retro, cartoony style with wonderfully rich colors and angular graphics, cars, limos, buses, and even a stagecoach fill the pages, accompanied by captions that display uppercase and lowercase letters—"Aa is for axle, Bb is for bumper…" and so on. While young readers will be familiar with many of the vehicles pictured, such as an ice-cream truck or a yellow cab, a hot rod, compact, or double-decker might elicit questions and require further explanation.
