(He is now 16 and has been playing guitar professionally since he was 14.) At the time I wanted to create a book for him that included everything that I wish I knew, that I NEEDED to know, when I was young and just starting to learn guitar myself. Since then "The Rock Monsters Guides" have grown to become a series of books designed to teach young people, ages 9 - 16, the basics of how to play guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and singing. My lifelong passion is music. I love music. I love to play music, listen to music, see live music, learn about music, music history, and the music industry ... However, my talent is writing. Since I was very young I have enjoyed writing and been able to write creatively. (Unfortunately playing music was a little more challenging for me.) When I "grew up" my profession became teaching and training. I created training manuals and conducted training workshops for several big companies. ... What I found out is that I am good at making complicated concepts simple, accessible, and easy to understand. The mission of The Rock Monsters is to inspire and encourage kids to learn to play rock music on real instruments. Hopefully The Rock Monsters will inspire a whole new generation of kids to pick up an electric guitar, a pair of drumsticks, a microphone, or a bass guitar and START ROCKIN!!!
