Everything Kimberly Rae writes in this book are things I would want my children to know. She writes from the perspective of the deceased loved one and answers many of the questions that children ask when a close loved one dies. She communicates the continued love of the deceased but also of God, and creates a book that a child can come back to over and over to be reminded of that love. She presents a biblical view of what Heaven is like, without adding to it for the sake of comfort and what isn't in Scripture. I especially appreciate she gives such a high view of God, despite what humanly is difficult to understand. She communicates in death, what I try to teach my kids about God in LIFE! I was thrilled when I got to the end of the book and she presented the Gospel in a very understandable way! What a treasure to have a book that provides what any child dealing with loss will need- reminders of love, comfort, what Scriptures saw and the Gospel!

I read this book and by the end of it, I had tears in my eyes! How wonderful for the author to not only think of her children and how they may feel should she leave for Heaven, but to know that other children out there will have questions, hurt and angry feelings, and total confusion concerning the death of a loved one! This is a must for any child that experiences the loss of a parent/grandparent/sibling. Love it!

This book is beautifully written and illustrated and would be a lifeline to a child struggling through the loss of a parent. All the questions they would want to ask but may be afraid to are addressed in this book. Yes, your loved one wanted to be with you, yes, they still love you very much, etc. I recommend this book with all of my heart to anyone dealing with a child who has experienced the loss of a parent, whether recent or in the past.

In 2017, Phyllis herself went to Heaven, so she is living what she could only imagine before.

From the Back Cover

Beautifully illustrated, When I'm With Jesus helps children see a loved one's transition to Heaven as a joyful thing. It comforts children with a tangible reminder that they have not been forgotten and are still loved.

There shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.
There shall be no more pain,
For the former things have passed away.
Revelation 21:4

From the Inside Flap

To Parents, Teachers, Guardians,

To lose a loved one is painful for children as well as adults. They have
questions, feelings they do not understand, and need not only comfort but
reassurance. They want to know about Heaven, about where their loved one is
and why he or she had to go, but may fear asking a parent or guardian, not
wanting to add to their grief.

With multiple health conditions, author Kimberly Rae has had to face the
possibility that she might not be there to watch her children grow up. She
wanted to leave behind a message for them, something to hold in their hands
and let them know that, even if she was gone from sight, she still loved them.
She did not want them to remember her sick or in pain. She wrote this book to
give them a new picture, a way to think of her that would allow them to heal,
knowing she is all right.

She prays this book helps other families in the same way.

How to use this book:

Large print sections: to be used as a read-to book, or beginning reader book for
younger children.

Smaller print sections: for higher reading level children to read on their own,
or as a read-to book when children grow old enough to ask deeper questions.
May this book give comfort to grieving children as they grow and develop,
helping answer their questions and showing them that Heaven is not as far away
as it may seem. And may it remind children and adults alike how much they are
loved.

God bless you,
